Scientists discover huge hole in fabric of universe – but what is its purpose?

The perfectly spherical hole is a mind-boggling 1.8 BILLION light years across. And it contains absolutely NOTHING.

The bizarre phenomenon is being called a ‘supervoid’ and is the largest individual structure ever identified by humanity, dwarfing supermassive black holes, and even supergalaxies.

The empty hole in the universe was discovered by a team at the University of Hawaii,  in Manoa, who noticed that around 10,000 galaxies seemed to have gone missing.

Had the galaxies simply fallen through into another reality?
