  • January 2: Earth at Perihelion Earth will be about 3 million km closer to the Sun than average.

  • January 3-4: Quadrantid meteor shower One of the best annual meteor showers peaking up to 120 meteors per hour.

  • January 10: Triple conjunction Jupiter, Saturn, and Mercury will appear closest to each other in the evening sky.

  • January 13: First Full Moon of the year

  • January 24: Saturn at solar conjunction Saturn will pass close to the Sun and will be unobservable for weeks to come.

  • January 29: Jupiter at solar conjunction Jupiter will pass close to the Sun and will be unobservable for weeks to come.

  • February 8: α-Centaurid meteor shower 2021 The only meteor shower in February. Up to 8 meteors per hour.

  • February 28: Mercury at the highest point Mercury will reach its highest point in the sky.

  • March 20: The Spring Equinox Sun will shine directly over the equator. Equal day and night all over the world.

  • March 28: Super Worm Moon The first supermoon of the year

  • March 29: Venus at its brightest

  • April 17: Lunar occultation of Mars The Red Planet will disappear behind the Moon for the first time in 2021.

  • April 22: Lyrid meteor shower up to 18 meteors per hour April 27: Super Pink Moon The second super Moon of the year.

  • May 6: η-Aquariid meteor shower Fireballs from Halley's comet. Up to 25 meteors per hour.

  • May 26: Total Lunar Eclipse Visible from Oceania, the Americas, and Eastern and Southeast Asia.

  • May 26: Super Flower Moon The third super Moon of 2021.

  • June 10: Annular Solar Eclipse Visible from Canada, Greenland, the U.S., Europe, and Russia

  • June 21: The Summer Solstice It's the longest day in the North and the longest night in the South. The Sun will shine directly over the Tropic of Capricorn. In the North, it's the first day of Summers and the shortest night of the year.

  • June 24: Super Strawberry moon The fourth and final supermoon of 2021.

  • July 3: Close approach of Venus and the Beehive cluster

  • July 6: Earth at aphelion The Earth will reach its most distant point from the Sun.

  • July 13: Conjunction of Venus and Mars Venus will pass 0°29' to the North of Mars. Look for the pair in the west at dusk.

  • July 30: Southern δ-Aquariid meteor shower Up to 25 meteor showers

  • August 2: Saturn at Opposition Saturn will rise at sunset and will reach its highest point in the sky around midnight.

  • August 12: Perseid meteor shower Up to 150 meteors per hour August 19: Conjunction of Mars and Mercury

  • August 20: Jupiter at Opposition The best time to see Jupiter in the night sky

  • August 22: Blue Moon The only Blue Moon of 2021

  • September 23: The Autumn Equinox Equal day and night all over the globe on this day.

  • October 2: Andromeda at Culmination It's the best time to see the Andromeda galaxy.

  • October 21: Orionid meteor shower Up to 15 meteors per hour.

  • November 5: Uranus at opposition Uranus will make its closest approach to the Earth.

  • November 8: Lunar occultation of Venus Venus will disappear behind the Moon for some time.

  • November 12: Northern Taurid meteor shower Up to 5 meteors per hour

  • November 17: Leonid meteor shower Up to 15 meteors per hour

  • November 19: Partial lunar eclipse Visible from Oceania, the Americas, Eastern Asia, Northern Europe, and Indonesia.

  • December 4: Total Solar Eclipse Visible from Antarctica, the South Atlantic Ocean, and parts of South Africa.
